This is the core of a reaper sovereign -ship-. They are what reapers usually look like, the squid/cuttlefish/scorpion/louse duplicates house the actual reapers. It's like having a ship graphed to you basically. -_-

Can't forget that the Illusive Man still had a reasonable amount of this thing at his station. The plan could have been that the Reapers would have him bring it to them so they could finish it off.

I always wanted to see it completed...I mean, I just think the Reapers weren't thinking when they thought of the design. For some reason, a flying giant human-looking robot in space doesn't seem to scary to me.

Just derpy.

When I saw the larvae, it made me think of Lavos. You defeat the metal squid shell, and inside is a giant humanoid.

I always figured that once it was completed it would take a similar for to that of the other Reapers. It was also hinted at in one of the concepts for the human Reaper, that the front - the face, chest, etc - is actually the back, where the legs would end up being. Don't know if it's true or not, but it might explain why every other Reaper has almost the exact same shape overall.

That would make sense, though it's still odd that it would look human at all if there's a general shape the Reapers have. It's not all organic, and the Reapers wouldn't have to keep to the human form...

Could be a plot hole so players were more disturbed during the battle c:

The first question I had when I saw it was "But why don't Reapers look like other distinct species instead of just one?"

That's the same question I had.

As you said, I think it's something to do with possibly making it more disturbing. If it were just another Reaper, then it wouldn't have had the same effect as seeing humans being turned into goo and made into a human-form Reaper. Probably just a plot hole, yes.

I also find it funny that they gave it an extra eye on one side. Reapers totally understand human anatomy. xD

Either way, it was definitely creepy first time going against it.

So yeah, I'm gonna chalk it up to plot hole~
