And henceforth, anyone who thinks of that huge dreadnought will only be able to think of a smiley face :).

I've seen quite a few smiley faces through out the game. Not sure if it's intentional or not.

I only saw smiley faces on Garrus' armor and now the Geth Dreadnought but that's just about it with me ^^;

This ship was implied to be a serious badass, but we never got to see it in action, just board and sabotage the thing. Plus, it is implied that that ship wasn't the only dreadnought built by the geth.

I'm not sure. I would assume it's something to do with the interaction between Reapers and Geth, though.

also there doesn't seem to be any salarian ships ingame, or any signs of turina dreadnoughts or asari fighter. plus only frigates i see ingame are the Normandy and geth dropships.

only sad part of this is, other than it's size, it looks like every kind of geth ship.

Its longer, but the general design is the same. Geth probably decided this is the best approach for making spaceships :)

Yeah, plus, they are machines, after all... no point being creative or any of that stuff

Yes. They find the most efficient design and stay with it.

That design isn't efficient to produce, though. Look at Borg ships, which are efficient to make.

It doesn't make sense to have curves on mass-produced ships. It just makes the production process that more expensive and complicated.

Thats not easy to say. If the curve is made correctly, it may be more durable than a plain.

But I was rather referring to the design of the ship, ala bugs. Not many realize it, but bugs are one of the advanced living beings on our planet.

And Borgs... its difficult to say, as Star Trek was in time when the designs like now never existed :D If you refer to Borg Cube, I can refer Death Start in Star Wars. Why it is ball, if it is the most advanced super weapon? Why it isnt a cube too? I think Borgs were given the Cube to differentiate them. I dont know that much about Star Trek, not that many, but from what I have seen with Borgs they have advanced technology, but I woudnt say they are making efficient designs.

Its difficult to talk about it when I am not sure what you mean.

There are Borg Spheres.

What I'm trying to say is that the Geth are supposed to be efficient in their construction techniques. While it would make sense to build Geth ships in a modular fashion (which would explain the segments), the points at which the segments connect are major structural weaknesses. Weaknesses on the level of "oops the ship snapped in two" magnitude.
Given that the Geth themselves consider windows as a "Structural weakness",it raises the question of why they would build their ships in such a fragile fashion.

My comparison to the Borg is because Cubes and Spheres have no obvious structural weak spots. Couple that with redundant systems and decentralized control, the only way to destroy Borg ships is to pound them to dust, as two halves of a Cube can continue to operate effectively.

This type of ship design is the most logical and effective. Compared to the Geth, who actually have aesthetic appeal in their vessels, Borg ships are cold and menacing, not to mention a pain in the ass to deal with.

Okay, I'm kind of getting off track.

Geth ships don't have decentralized control, and have vital systems all over the ship. In all honesty, it makes no logical sense to centralize vital ship systems such as the Drive Core, Engines, Shields, Bridge, and weapons when there is no need to do such a thing, especially since the Geth are machines. Loss of material assets does not bother the Geth, but there is no need to make it easier for the opponent.

Why you think the points where pieces connect are weak? I dont remember a Geth ship being snapped in two because of that. Also, efficiency can have many forms, and Geth and Borg just took different approaches.

True, although I think there's some extra legs on it. That's about it, though...

and on alliance and asari there is also minor differences between cruisers and dreadnaughts. asari had a 4th "wing" and alliances has a longer barrel.
