you know, I've got to wonder about the Ascension. It's a dreadnaught with "more fire power then the rest of the asari fleet combined" and a dreadnaught's primary weapon is a mass accelerator running the average 1km length of the ship. given the orientation that we see this ship in all the time, when put in scale with other dreadnaught's this thing much be immense.
Just how many time taller and wider is it then wide?
In the Citidel DLC there is an hologram that depicts the asaris discovery of the citidel the destiny ascension is reaper-sized and reapers are 2 kilometers long.... so o,95 reaper long, 1,20 reaper wide, and 1,50 reaper tall.... I hope this helps
Some quick math coverts that to 1.9km long, 2.4km wide, and 3km tall. The dimensions of the thing makes me wonder about it's armament, with so much vertical space the ship could easily sport numerous full length mass accelerators.
It's kind of funny to see the destiny ascension there at the discovery of the citadel. the citadel was discovered in 520 BCE, so the Ascension's external design is at least 2806 years old.
Honestly I want to call that scene in the archives as being an example of bioware reusing assets, I can't fathom how the destiny ascension could be that old and still be touted as the most powerful ship in the galaxy, even with the thing having period refits.
As long as spareparts exists, or keeps getting made, so can a car (In thoery) last forever. Everything we make is designed to only last for a certain short period, thus forcing us to buy more. The Asari live long lifes, so they have specialized in producing long lasting products, and the Destiny Ascention is older then 2806, more like 3000 years. (200 years to explore the mass relay network for a single species sounds like a reasanable amount of time) I think it might have had major internal parts replaced with more effecient tech, as I said, designed for millenia to last, with a design and integration effecient hull design.
Do you know whether there is an updated model in ME3 files of the Destiny Ascension? Or one of the other asari ships (especially the one without the upper pylon)? Thanks
