I love all of your references! But the only thing I can see that's a bit off is the color of his markings - they're a bright blue, like in that screen you uploaded in the earlier comments. Unless your modeler just lightened them to near-white in the picture. 8|a

It's funny you should mention that, others have said it before. I think there's a glitch or something. Whenever I search for him online [wiki], I get Pallin with white markings (also, whenever I go to his office in ME1, his markings are white).

I can only assume that this is either a texture glitch or something to do with regions.

I can do a blue-markings version, too, if you wish :).

Hmmm, that's definitely interesting! Every time I go see him they're the light blue, and I think everyone that I know around here has had his markings be blue. Come on Bioware, let's get some consistency here! If it's not too much trouble, a light blue version would be awesome if it's not too much trouble - I kind of adore Pallin, even though he's got such a small part in the games.

That looks a lot more like what he looks like in my game. Thanks for taking the time with this. :)

You are more than welcome :). I try to get them as near to the in-game colours as is possible.

Why are you happy? :/ He was a good guy, and was set up by Udina.

It's a twist to the story, certainly.

Not sure what it will do in the end, though, other than make Bailey a Commander. I wonder if we'll get some more info on that in ME3.

PS .. or maybe they actually are a very dark red that looks brown on my monitors? If this is the actual game data it must be, of course.

As I said before, I have to colour each model individually. There's no guarantee it will be perfect, but I do try to get them as close as is possible. It's not quite red, but it's not brown. It's a dark maroon colour, I think. I'll edit it in a few minutes.

Oh right, sorry .. I didn't get that. I thought you had to improve the colours slightly, not paint them all over. Now your work seems even more impressive!

Oh, please don't bother on my account. I made Pallin's outfit brown in the first fourty pages of my comic so I might as well stick with the madness. :)

It's not all that impressive. Only takes a few minutes. The stages to colour the suit are here (without instructions, and not including the head, that's almost more difficult :D). Once I have the maps applied I only have to go back and alter them. The only problem being when they are done in layers, you have to make sure the colours in the other layers don't interfere. If I alter the secondary colour (in this case red) to be a brownish colour, it may make the primary colour (blue) have a slight purple-ish tint. So I need to adjust both colours to bring it back to what it was.

Yeah, I bet the head must be a pain ... So, can you import each character's tattos as well or do you have to mark them and draw them yourself?

Oh, I see. I don't even know how to work with layers myself but I get the gist of it I think, after pestering some other DA friends about them. :)

The tattoos are also RBG Tint maps, so it's a matter of picking out which tattoo by marking everything else black to get the right tattoo, or combination in the case of Valern and Pallin.

Example 1.
Example 2.

Combined with certain masks, you can make the tattoo only go as far as the fringe, or the top of the mouth, or just the chin, etc.

Wow, that looks like abstract art. :)

Cool. I bet the game developers had fun with them all. I really love some of the more intricate ones, like Pallin's and Valern's and there are some great look mercs on Omega. Why couldn't they have made Garrus as gorgeous? He's pretty bland for a turian ... at least he makes up for it in character.

Hm, in the game though his clothes are blue/brown rather than red. But this will do quite nicely. Thanks a lot! :)

This is the only decent picture I could get of him to work out the colours. If the colours are not actually correct, I will edit it.

No I think you got it right the first time, sorry. It's just so weird, espescially comparing my own screenshots with your references, there are many items that have totally different colours from what I'm seeing in the game on my monitors. But I've heard others say the same thing, colours can look very different from computer to computer.

Now I wonder if the turian Councilor is also wearing red rather than brown, because they always seemed to wear the same clothing to me ...

The turian councillor seems to be wearing the same colours in this picture. But, again, due to the lighting it may be difficult to make out the darker colours.

Yes exactly ... at least the outfits look identical in my own screenshots.

Did I mention I have over 13,000 of them, in 1920x1080 dpi? Because I'm a nerd like that. :D

Chellick's and Pallin's tattoos bug me though; they've always come out as blue for me but not the Councilor's. In your pics though all three look white. :\

Heh, I only have about 1000 from Mass Effect.

I noticed in a screenshot that Pallin seemed to have different colours. (I've only ever seen the one to the left, though.)

13,000? That's quite a few :D.

Lol, well with access to beautiful references like yours, who would even need 13,000 screenshots .. :D

Hm, the other one isn't Pallin, it's probably just some random guy, quite possibly a C-sec officer, I seem to recognize his markings. There's a wonderful site that lists ALL the turian specimen so far, I use it quite frequently as you can imagine. :) In case you ever need some reference pics, here it is, never mind the adult warning: [link]

I never even realized some of the turians are related, as in coming from the same colony, until I saw this multitude of samples.

And counting. :D I still have to make reference shots for most the human, quarian and krogan armous as well. :)
