I find it a little odd how they apparently don't recognise danger; they don't flee nor do they fight back. It makes me wonder if these might be the equivalent of the starfish.

Indeed, it's way too easy to run them over by accident. Poor little fellas.

But perhaps their eyesight simply isn't all that good?

It seems like they only have one eye, so that might very well be. Still seems a little strange, though. It is as if they have no awareness, but yet they attacked and killed a graduate. Maybe we will see more of them in ME3.
